Anxiety and the Mind: What Really Happens in the Mind When You’re Anxious

Ever wondered what goes on in your brain when you’re anxious and why? Today we discuss this, symptoms and how to help when your anxious!

All of us experience anxiety at one time or another. A job interview, a high-risk test, attending a big meeting – feeling anxious is common, in fact, a natural response to such situations. However, some are affected by anxiety more deeply than others.

Fear and anxiety are closely connected as fear leads to anxiety and alerts the body to prepare for alarming and threatening conditions.

A natural and life-saving response in normal circumstances, however experiencing anxiety all the time is harmful to the person’s mental and physical health.

An anxious brain never shuts down the flight response leading to constant stress. This leaves the person in a constant state of fear, terror, and restlessness.

A Letter To… The Friend Who Disowned Me for My Anxiety

I want to get some things off of my chest. I want to tell you how you made me feel because of my anxiety. I want you to know I’m doing OK.

We met many years ago. It was a job that filled a gap between better things for us; you teaching in Australia, and I was off to university soon. I trained you on the workplace ways when you joined, and we got on so well.

We discovered a love for geography, with you holding your degree in this very subject, and me starting the same subject shortly.

As time went on, we grew closer and closer, and when the time came for me to leave the job we were in, we stayed in touch. It was difficult whilst you were in Australia, but looking back that was never a problem for us. The minute you came back, we were meeting up most weekends, sometimes in the week, too.

It Takes Guts, Conquering Your Anxiety. Here’s How To Do It

Want to know how to conquer your anxiety? Here are some of the best tips that actually work. Forward: these aren’t easy but so worth it!

I’ve been compelled to write about this subject today following my life coaching certification and the emotions it has created in the process. My teacher showed me a vast array of information into the human psyche. I thought I knew it all, but I’ve since come to realise that, actually, I know nothing.

Pondering on anxiety and how we work, I’ve now seen how the very best of us can actually be the very worst off. Why is it that the very leaders of our country succumb to immaturity through short-sightedness and lack of understanding towards their very own people?

I guess I’ll never really understand them but at least I can say that I’m on the way to understanding myself (which in turn helps me understand you).

Do you know why? It’s because I know how anxiety affects you. Purely because anxiety affects me hugely. That’s why I wrote the title to this post – moving on from anxiety takes a huge amount of guts and shouldn’t be taken lightly.

So, this article today is going to address some pretty big elephants in the room. These so called ‘elephants’ aren’t there to make you feel uncomfortable, however. They are there to address some of your pain points, and are not to be ignored.
